The role

As a Power Systems Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. Join our team at Devonport where you'll help ensure the reliability and compliance of the site’s electrical power distribution network. From fault diagnosis to system optimisation, your expertise will keep critical infrastructure running safely and efficiently.

Day-to-day, you’ll deliver expert technical support for Devonport’s electrical power systems, ensuring operational reliability, fault resolution, and compliance with all legal and regulatory standards.

  • Provide expert advice on power distribution operations, maintenance, and compliance.
  • Perform system studies and calculations using specialised engineering software.
  • Analyse technical data, lead fault diagnosis, and produce clear, actionable reports.
  • Manage configuration of documentation and support change and asset management.
  • Specify replacement equipment and ensure adherence to safety and quality standards.

This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 2 days in the office/onsite and 3 days working from home.

Essential experience of the Power Systems Engineer

  • Strong grasp of electrical engineering principles and power system fundamentals.
  • Proficient in interpreting and creating electrical drawings using AutoCAD.
  • Knowledge of industry standards, frameworks, and regulatory codes.
  • Skilled in fault diagnosis, rectification, and system restoration.
  • Capable of producing clear technical reports and engineering documentation.

Qualifications for the Power Systems Engineer

  • A minimum of HNC or equivalent in an Electrical/Electronic Engineering discipline

The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information (NNPPI) security clearance for this role.
