Job summary

Calibre Search represents an established multidisciplinary engineering consultancy in Leeds, seeking an experienced Power Systems Engineer to deliver electrical infrastructure designs from LV to 132kV and above.

You will work within a specialist power systems team across healthcare, education, energy centres and major infrastructure projects, providing technical input, detailed drawings and reports while liaising with clients, DNOs and contractors.

Qualifications

  • Degree qualified in Power Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Strong experience in power systems engineering, ideally across 11kV to 132kV.
  • Experience working on larger and more complex power systems projects, with experience at 132kV and above highly desirable.
  • Experience within sectors such as healthcare, hospitals, universities, education or energy centres would be advantageous.
  • Strong technical knowledge of electrical distribution networks and power systems analysis.
  • Experience using software such as ETAP, IPSA+, ERACS, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, Trimble, Electrical OM or similar.
  • Strong AutoCAD skills; Revit experience would be advantageous.
  • Experience working with DNOs on new connections, upgrades and embedded generation schemes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • A proactive approach to learning, technical development and problem solving.

Responsibilities

  • Electrical network design from LV through to 132kV.
  • Distribution substation design, including large private 11kV networks.
  • Load flow and fault-level analysis.
  • Protection and grading/selectivity studies.
  • Harmonic analysis and ENA ER G5/4 compliance.
  • Arc-flash and voltage stability assessments.
  • Insulation coordination studies.
  • Substation earthing design.
  • HV cable routing and network design.
  • Embedded generation and grid connection projects, including G99 applications.
  • Standby and peak generation schemes.
  • Liaising with DNOs regarding new connections and capacity upgrades.
  • Producing technical reports, specifications and drawings.
  • Undertaking site surveys and investigations.
  • Supporting contractors during project delivery and attending commissioning activities.
  • Providing specialist power systems advice to wider building services teams.

Are you a Power Systems Electrical Engineer looking to take the next step in your career with a leading multidisciplinary engineering consultancy?

An established, independently owned engineering consultancy are looking for an experienced Power Systems Engineer to join their team delivering innovative and sustainable engineering solutions across a diverse range of sectors, including healthcare, education, commercial, residential, industrial, pharmaceutical and public sector projects.

Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced Power Systems Electrical Engineer to join their specialist team and contribute to technically challenging projects involving electrical infrastructure from LV through to 132kV and above.

The Role:

Working as part of a specialist Power Systems Engineering team, you will provide technical expertise across a variety of projects, from specialist power systems design through to complex electrical distribution networks.

You will work across a broad range of projects, providing power systems engineering input and developing detailed designs for electrical infrastructure. The role will involve working closely with clients, DNOs, contractors and multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver safe, resilient and sustainable power solutions.

You will have the opportunity to work on technically challenging projects across sectors including healthcare, education, universities, energy centres and other major infrastructure developments.
