Job summary

Vishay Intertechnology Inc. in Newport, UK is seeking a Product Engineer to lead the product engineering team and drive developments for wide-bandgap semiconductor technology and the next generation of Vishay's power device portfolio.

The ideal candidate holds a PhD or Master’s in semiconductor physics, has 10+ years in power semiconductors, deep lifecycle knowledge, strong data analytics, and experience with SiC or other wide-bandgap devices.

Qualifications

  • PhD or Master’s degree in semiconductor device/material physics or related field.
  • At least 10 years of experience in power semiconductors.
  • Detailed knowledge of semiconductor product life cycle, device characterization, pre-production support, release to volume production and product sustenance.
  • Strong data analytical skills in the evaluation and characterization of power semiconductors.
  • Experience working with SiC or other Wide-bandgap semiconductor devices strongly desired.
  • Yield analysis and circuit debug experience with 6-sigma quality practices is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the product engineering team and collaborate with technology and product development teams to manufacturing release.
  • Characterization of new product performance prior to manufacturing release
  • Development of engineering database.
  • Development and monitoring of Statistical Process Control systems for production products.
  • Disposition of Wafer sort and Final test
  • Yield Enhancement
  • Support engineering teams with New Products Introduction.
  • Change control relating to products in production.
  • Collaborate with reliability / quality team for analysis of RMA Customer returns

How You'll Help Us Build the DNA of Tech

You will work together with a talented staff of engineering professionals to develop and enable innovative wide bandgap semiconductor technology to realize the next generations of Vishay’s proprietary power device product portfolio.

Knowledge and Experience You'll Need
  • A PhD or Master’s degree in semiconductor device/material physics or related fields.
  • At least 10 years of experience in the field of power semiconductors.
  • Detailed knowledge of semiconductor product life cycle, device characterization, device qualification, pre-production support, release to volume production and product sustenance.
  • Strong data analytical skills in the evaluation and characterization of power semiconductors
  • Experience working with SiC or other Wide-bandgap semiconductor devices strongly desired
  • Yield analysis and circuit debug experience with 6-sigma quality practices is a plus.

You will have a comprehensive, demonstrable background in power semiconductor materials / semiconductor device physics, and / fabrication process. You will approach tasks in a logic-based way, along with having the ability and motivation to develop novel and creative ideas. Your communication skills will enable seamless collaboration both with our manufacturing partners and internally, and you will know how to build and maintain lasting relationships in international and cross-functional project teams.
