This is a great opportunity to work for a global insurance company in the UK. You will be part of a team of 60 risk engineers worldwide.
Scope of Activities
- Main Responsibilities:
- Conduct standard risk engineering surveys, which are crucial for successful insurance placement within the power industry. A survey typically involves a 2-3 day visit to a client facility, interviews with key management, and site tours. The output is an engineering report detailing:
- Description of site operations
- Analysis of Loss Prevention/Mitigation features
- Site quality ranking and recommendations for improvement
- Estimation of property damage using bespoke modelling software
Perform risk assessments of operational power plants and reviews of new projects.
Support the Power Broking team in placing risks in international insurance markets.
Manage and develop the Engineering Management System.
Special Skills
- Strong knowledge of power industry technologies and construction management.
- Experience in work execution methods and project management.
- Exposure to risk assessment-driven decision-making relevant to the field.
- IT literacy, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and experience with technical simulation packages.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Candidate Profile
- Work experience of 8-20 years in operations, maintenance, technical, or consultancy roles with clients or consultancies such as Siemens, GE, DNV, Mott MacDonald, Atkins, Ramboll, among others.
- Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering; chartership is advantageous.
- Willingness to travel internationally (typically 70-90 days per year), including Europe, South America, or worldwide.
- Fluent in Spanish and English.
- Excellent communication skills (oral and written).
- Ability to develop and maintain client relationships and communicate effectively at all organizational levels.
