A leading risk consultancy is seeking a Power Risk Engineer in London to provide risk advice to underwriters and brokers. The role requires extensive experience in power plant operations and strong communication skills. The ideal candidate will perform field surveys, analyze risks, and develop recommendations. Power Risk Engineer- Insurance - £105,000- 120,000 + Bonus & Car Allowance - London/ Hybrid-working
We are looking for a Power Engineer to join our insurance clients London (City) office as a risk engineer. You will provide clear, practical risk advice to underwriters, brokers and end -user teams within power , helping ensure effective risk selection and strong loss prevention for operational and construction sites.

Key Responsibilities:
Perform both operational and construction field surveys of powergen sites, determine inherent risk and audit all departments to verify effectiveness of risk prevention and mitigation controls.
Develop loss prevention recommendations, to reduce the risk of property damage and business interruption.
Present survey results to site management focusing on the risk analysis, conclusions and loss prevention recommendations.
Complete report writing in an accurate and timely fashion using our clients report format, loss estimation methods and software, and proprietary risk rating tools.
Carry out desk top risk analysis by reviewing, interpreting and summarizing third party, technical risk information.
Explain survey and desk top analysis to underwriters. brokers and power operators
Manage survey programs for your assigned industry clients, including service plan development, service co-ordination, report reviews & stewardship meetings.
Produce Account Summary Reports (ASRs) and explain them to your underwriters so they can make effective underwriting decisions.
Peer review completed survey reports & account reviews.
Learn from losses, understanding the root causes and how they could have been avoided: Apply that learning in your work.
The Person
At least 8 years of industrial experience in power plant operations, engineering or maintenance, or within a boiler/gas turbine manufacturer.
Strong Health, Safety and Environmental awareness. NEEBOSH and experience of relevant ISO standards would be an advantage
Ability to work in our clients City of London office at least 3 days per week in a face-to-face team environment.
Excellent verbal, written and presentation communication skills.
Ability to lead insurance risk surveys in the field, quickly building effective working relationships to gain information & understanding.
Ability to clearly explain technical issues to underwriters, brokers & clients and especially the impact on loss potential.
Ability to deliver survey reports and account reviews on-time.
Able to undertake international travel for up to 80 days per year.
Essential knowledge
Knowledge/experience of a range of power station technologies including conventional thermal, combustion turbines, CCGT, nuclear & renewable power facilities.
Experience of power design/construction projects.
Familiarity with the failure patterns and characteristics of differing turbine models and components
Graduate Electrical or Mechanical engineer.
Other working would be an advantage.
