Job summary

A leading electrical engineering firm is seeking a Power Quality Field Service Engineer in Slough. This role involves preventative maintenance and repair of UPS systems in hyperscale data centers. Candidates should have at least a HNC in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and a solid understanding of UPS technology and fault diagnosis. Remote monitoring experience is a plus, and the position is full-time and permanent.

Qualifications

  • Educated to a HNC or higher in Electrical and Electronic Engineering or equivalent.
  • Ability to understand and diagnose UPS-related faults.
  • Experience with internet-enabled monitoring and remote diagnostics is desirable.

Overview

Eaton – Power Quality Field Service Engineer, Southern Region

Location: Slough, Berkshire
Type: Permanent
Employment: Full-time

You will focus on hyperscale data centers in the region.

Responsibilities
  • Carry out preventative maintenance on an existing install base
  • Carry out commissioning and repair on all types of UPS systems, including stand-alone and parallel configurations
  • Fault diagnoses on UPS systems
  • Understand on-line and line-interactive UPS systems
  • Setup and configure remote monitoring software
  • Communicate with key stakeholders on a technical level
  • Applies anti-static policies and procedures
  • Applies ECN process to all repairs
  • Possessing three phase electrical installation or maintenance knowledge
  • A good understanding of UPS systems
  • Knowledgeable of industrial communication protocols such as Modbus, SNMP, OPC, DDE, TCP/IP
  • Knowledgeable of programming of PLC control systems (power control, generator control, SCADA or process control)
  • You will carry out [note: keep original meaning] preventative maintenance on existing install base
