Overview

Power Operator / Trade control analyst. Certain Advantage are hiring for a Power Operator based in London. This role is on a 1-year contract basis and is hybrid. We're working with a multinational energy corporation, which is one of the largest publicly traded companies globally, operating in more than 90 countries.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a thorough understanding of the Commercial business needs across the geographical portfolio, and how Commercial Power Operations captures value in commercial markets.
• Daily scheduling of European Power Grids
• Executing trades bilaterally and on Europe's power Exchange
• Management of day ahead and intra-day cross-border capacities
• Contacting counterparties daily to ensure efficient matching
• Providing input to IT tool enhancements/requirements
• Maintaining a thorough understanding of purchase and supply contracts and the obligations
• Maintaining a thorough understanding of the various Power markets and regulatory regimes across Europe
• Leading the Commercial Wholesale Operations team through the digitalization journey, removing unnecessary processes and looking to automate where possible
• Developing cross team capabilities in Gas, Power and renewables, and leveraging synergies to the gain of all areas of the wider Commercial Operations team

The individual

• Prior experience working in a trading environment and managing risk
• Flexible approach to working hours to accommodate a range of European markets
• Excellent understanding of European Power Operations and Power Assets
• Experienced user of IT systems and knowledgeable on IT landscapes including Power operations platforms
• Self-motivated, with an aptitude for accurate problem solving in a very time critical environment
• Very strong attention to detail and delivery focused
• Proficient English required and at least one further European language desirable (Italian, Spanish or German preferred)
• Ability to work without supervision
• Learner mindset continually driven to improve systems and process
