Job Description:
My client, a semiconductor manufacturer that's been running for over 60 years, is looking to take on 2x Power Module Application Engineers in Lincoln.
The role:
- Provide application support in power conversion circuit design and simulation, power module products evaluation and selection.
- Provide knowledge and expertise of power system circuit topology.
- Carry out circuit-level simulation, characterization and evaluation of power semiconductor module products.
- Establish PLECS/SPICE compatible power device numerical model for products evaluation internally, existing products improvements and product proposition externally.
- Provide insight and adapt approaches from the latest market demands, specifications and trends on power semiconductor products.
- Provide in-depth analysis, parallel comparison and review of state-of-the-art semiconductor power module products.
- Build customer-oriented application circuits, to the internationally recognised standards.
- Act as technical bridge among the technical team, sales team and customers, helping sales team in product promotion and providing suggestions to the product development team.
- Contribution of technical documentation.
- Provide written and verbal engineering technical test reports and presentations on work done as appropriate.
The requirements:
- BS or above in microelectronics, solid state electronics, material engineering, power electronics, physics or other related majors.
- A good understanding of semiconductor power devices such as IGBTs, MOSFETs, Diodes and their characteristics.
- A good understanding of power semiconductor packaging structure, technology and materials.
- Solid knowledge of the challenges and requirements of reliability test, electrical and thermal characterization of high power modules.
- Demonstrable experience in power module reliability analysis (Weibull analysis, life date analysis etc.) and capable of interpreting reliability test results.
- Good understanding of power modules degradation and failure mechanisms and descriptive mathematical models for such.
- Knowledge of reliability evaluation and lifetime prediction of power modules.
- Experience in high power semiconductor device test, characterization as well as failure mode analysis.
- Knowledge of power semiconductor device static and dynamic test, thermal impedance test, power cycling test, thermal cycling test, short-circuit test etc.
- Ability to present data in a meaningful way that allows understanding by a diverse audience.
