Job summary

Prysmian in Wrexham seeks a Power Grids Development Engineer to drive design, development and qualification of energy cables for the Power grid business. You will manage end-to-end R&D activities, from material selection to sample testing, ensuring designs are cost-effective and compliant with customer specifications.

The role involves leading design changes, supporting customer inquiries, and coordinating with suppliers and the Quality function during audits.

Qualifications

• Educated to degree level in a relevant Engineering subject.
• Strong numeracy, accuracy and attention to detail.
• Demonstrate problem solving and ability to work independently or in a team.
• Experience with SAP and MS Office advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Design, development and testing of energy cables for the Power grid business at Wrexham.
• Manage the design, development, and qualification processes through Accolade project management system.
• Provide technical support to customer inquiries and contracts.
• Lead design changes and material substitutions for cost reduction.
• Prepare raw material specifications and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Create Technical Instructions within Wrexham plant.
• Plan and execute sample testing for R&D and product qualification.
• Evaluate sustainable materials and new suppliers to reduce environmental footprint.
• Liaise with external suppliers to align projects with business needs and report to UK R&D director.
• Support Quality function during external audits.
