Job summary

Voltility is looking for a Generation Journalist to cover US storage, hybrid and generation development. You will build a network of sources across developers, IPPs, lenders and advisers, land scoops on milestones and ensure verification to Voltility's sourcing standards.

Your reporting goes beyond headlines; you translate leads into structured data for subscribers and help shape the research agenda with the wider team at Voltility.

Qualifications

• Background as a reporter or researcher covering power markets, renewables, storage or project finance, with a track record of breaking stories
• An existing network of sources among US developers, offtakers or energy financiers
• Comfortable working as part of a wider data research team
• Persistent, discreet and good on the phone

Responsibilities

• Build and work a network of sources across developers, IPPs, offtakers, utilities, OEMs, EPCs, lenders, tax equity investors and advisers
• Chase and land scoops on milestones across a project delivery lifecycle
• Verify information to Voltility's sourcing standard before it is used, and record source, date and confidence
• Work daily with the wider team to decide what to chase and adapt outbound efforts to what sources are saying
• Pass leads, rumours and partial information to researchers for follow-up and QA
• Attend industry events, meetings and conferences to build relationships and pick up intelligence
• Write short, factual items for the platform and newsletter where they support subscriber value or source relationships
• Protect sources and handle sensitive information appropriately

Role overview

The Generation Journalist breaks the stories that matter across US storage, hybrid and generation development. You'll build a network across the market and land news on projects, offtake and financing before it is public.

At Voltility, every scoop is a data point: a tolling agreement signed, a project reaching FID, a developer changing EPC or exiting a market. Your intelligence goes straight into the data our customers rely on, not just a headline. Writing is short-form; the real output is verified information that gives subscribers an edge.
