Opportunity for Power Electronics Design Engineer

Commutable from Cambridge and Bedford, this fantastic opportunity has become available for a Power Electronics Design Engineer to join an exciting team focused on the research and development of HVDC and MMC topologies.

This role requires a strong background in power electronics and high-power converter operation (1MW+), used in applications such as locomotive traction, motor drives, and renewable energy.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Design and development of Power Electronics building blocks / inverter stacks
  2. Running simulations in Matlab, Simulink, and Plecs
  3. Performing worst-case analysis
  4. Writing technical design reports and loss analyses

The successful candidate will have a relevant degree in Electronics or Electrical Engineering with proven experience in:

  • HVDC
  • Modular Multilevel Converters (MMC)
  • High voltage Power Electronics
  • IGBTs / MOSFETs
