We are seeking a Power Electronics Design Engineer based in Derby for a 12-month contract. This hybrid role involves 3 days onsite and 2 days remote.

As Power Electronics Design Lead, you will be responsible for leading the design, development, and validation of an AC/DC power converter for power drive systems.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Deliver design solutions aligned with project milestones and budgets.
  2. Apply appropriate tools and methods for Electronics and Electrical (E&E) design rigorously.
  3. Develop and maintain engineering task plans for assigned design solutions.
  4. Lead a team of engineers, supported by Technical Coaches and Capability Managers.
  5. Assist the Programme Manager in delivering design solutions within budget.
  6. Act as the primary contact for reporting to project and stakeholder teams.
  7. Manage work scope, resources, and effort estimation.
  8. Address non-conformances and design changes promptly.
  9. Escalate issues as needed and manage risks and issues on design solutions.
  10. Ensure completion of design questions for milestone reviews.
  11. Support performance discussions and development within the team.
Criteria
  • Experience in people management and processes.
  • Knowledge of Electronics and/or Electrical design and verification.
  • Relevant power electronics engineering expertise.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams on power systems projects, ensuring delivery within time, cost, and quality targets.

Note: A Security Check (SC) may be required. Rolls-Royce supports SC applications if needed. Due to recent Off Payroll (IR35) legislation, only PAYE or Umbrella contractors can be accepted; applications from those operating via their own Limited Company are not eligible.
