Power Business Analyst – Commodities Trading House | Power Trading | £800/Day Outside IR35 | 2-3 days office, LDN

Commodities & Energy Trading House are undergoing a technology landscape transformation. A key project involves migrating their Valuations and PnL portfolio from the current ETRM system to a new, bespoke ETRM that supports Power trades.

The Power Business Analyst will focus on enhancing Front Office Power Trading capabilities, working with users across the business to cover the full trade lifecycle for physical OTC Power.

This role requires a strong understanding of ETRMs, OTC exchanges, reporting such as REMIT, and concepts like baseload, peak/off-peak, intraday, day-ahead trading, PPAs, physical power trade lifecycle, M2M, P&L, VAR, and power grids.

You will collaborate with both front and middle office users, engaging directly with trading desks to gain comprehensive knowledge of physical power trades. The role involves hands-on analysis of current ETRM data, understanding the physical commodities lifecycle, and developing system and application knowledge.

Proactive engagement, structured documentation (e.g., user stories, backlogs), and effective communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders are essential.

Day rate: Up to £800/Day Outside IR35

Location: Hybrid (2-3 days in office), London

Duties:

Experience required:

  • Minimum 5 years as an IT Business Analyst in Trading
  • Experience in physical commodities trading and understanding of its lifecycle
  • Knowledge of Power trading including REMIT (preferred), OTC exchanges, balancing, baseload, peak/off-peak, intraday/day-ahead, PPAs, VAR, power grids
  • Front/middle office knowledge; pricing and valuation (P&L, risk exposure, etc.)
