Job summary

: Our client, is a Leader in Defence & Security and Marine sectors, working on innovative multi-mission solutions to support maritime and naval forces worldwide!

The Role: We are looking for a highly capable Power Applications Systems Engineer with a strong background in systems engineering and a focus on power electronics. This position is pivotal in managing requirements, developing system architectures and control strategies, and ensuring robust integration and verification of complex power systems.

As part of a multidisciplinary engineering team, you will contribute to the design and delivery of solutions across a range of applications, including marine, aerospace, and defence environments. These include power conversion and distribution systems such as motor drives, inverters, converters, and energy management systems.

This is an ideal opportunity for an engineer passionate about applying practical systems engineering approaches to solve real-world challenges in a growing, high-demand technology environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a technical bridge between multiple engineering disciplines, facilitating cross-functional collaboration.
  • Develop and define system-level operation modes including power-on, fault conditions, diagnostics, and self-tests.
  • Champion the practical application of systems engineering principles across the full product lifecycle.
  • Elicit, analyse, and challenge customer and stakeholder requirements to ensure clarity and completeness.
  • Define system interfaces and lead system-level architectural development.
  • Decompose system requirements into subsystem and component-level requirements.
  • Promote reusability and standardisation across projects to maximise design efficiency.
  • Lead key activities such as interface control, requirements traceability, system safety analysis, and design validation.
  • Participate in system verification and validation, ensuring compliance with customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Adapt and tailor systems engineering processes to meet specific project needs while maintaining quality and rigour.
  • Conduct and document system safety assessments to support safety-critical applications.
  • Required Experience:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience in applying structured systems engineering approaches throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Strong understanding of systems engineering deliverables, including requirements documentation, interface definition, configuration control, and safety analysis.
  • Experience working in environments with embedded systems and power electronics.
  • Familiarity with requirements management tools such as DOORS, Jama, or Polarion.
  • Practical experience with both Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and traditional systems engineering methodologies.
  • Exposure to agile delivery approaches including sprints, scrums, and tools such as Jira is beneficial.
  • Desirable Skills and Competencies:

  • Systems validation and verification experience.
  • Working knowledge of power systems and power electronic components.
  • Strong problem-solving ability, with the initiative to tailor engineering approaches to project constraints.
  • Effective communication skills for interfacing with internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Why Join?

This is a fantastic opportunity to work on cutting-edge engineering projects that have a tangible impact. You'll join a collaborative and supportive environment where your skills and ideas are valued. Alongside a competitive salary and benefits package, this role offers real scope for career development and the chance to contribute to high-integrity, high-performance systems.
