Job summary

Avara Foods Ltd. in Woolhope, Hereford, is hiring a Poultry Worker to help care for the flock and support farm operations on weekends. The role focuses on bird welfare, egg handling, and general farm duties at a busy poultry site.

You’ll work Saturdays and Sundays 07:30-16:00, with guaranteed hours, potential overtime, and on-site parking. Training starts on day one, and weekly pay is provided with a small shift premium.

Qualifications

• You will be motivated, flexible and have a good work ethic.
• You can work well in a team environment with excellent communication skills.
• You will have had Manual handling training.
• You will have previous experience in an agriculture environment or similar position.

Responsibilities

• Working in poultry houses, walking sheds, laying shavings, handling chickens.
• Collecting, screening and packing eggs onto trays, including completion of paperwork.
• Looking after bird welfare including feeding.
• General farm duties such as ground maintenance and use of equipment.

Purpose of the role

As a Poultry Worker, you will be responsible for the bird welfare of the flock. This is an ideal opportunity to advance a career within our Agriculture operations at our Hereford breeder laying site.

Key Responsibilities Will Include

• Working in poultry houses, i.e. walking the sheds, laying shavings, handling chickens
• Collecting, screening and packing eggs onto trays, including completion of paperwork
• Looking after bird welfare including feeding
• General farm duties such as ground maintenance including use of equipment

What We Are Looking For

• You will be motivated, flexible and have a good work ethic
• You can work well in a team environment and have excellent communication skills
• You will have had Manual handling training
• You will have previous experience of working in an agriculture environment or similar position
• You will have a Poultry welfare certificate / NVQ Level 2 in livestock production is desirable, but full training will be given
