Role Description:

The Postgres Senior SME is responsible for the administration, optimization, and support of PostgreSQL databases within the organization. This role involves ensuring the performance, security, and reliability of database systems, as well as providing expert guidance to development teams and business users.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Database Administration: Manage and maintain PostgreSQL databases, including installation, configuration, and upgrades.
  2. Performance Tuning: Optimize database performance through query tuning, indexing, and schema design.
  3. Experience of performance tuning in a data warehousing application.
  4. Backup and Recovery: Implement and manage backup strategies and disaster recovery plans.
  5. Security: Ensure database security by implementing best practices and monitoring for vulnerabilities.
  6. Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve database-related issues, providing support to development teams and end-users.
  7. Documentation: Create and maintain documentation for database configurations, procedures, and policies.
  8. Collaboration: Work closely with developers, system administrators, and business analysts to support database-related needs.
  9. Training: Provide training and mentorship to junior database administrators and other team members.
Key Skills / Knowledge / Experience:
