Natural Resources Wales (Cyfoeth Naturiol Cymru) is offering a fixed-term postgraduate placement focused on the analysis and mapping of four years of fishing vessel positional data collected via Vessel Monitoring Systems (VMS) in Welsh waters. The role targets recent postgraduates in marine science and provides mentorship within NRW's Marine and Coastal Ecosystems Advice Team.

• Postgraduate training in marine science or related field.
• Experience with spatial data analyses is desirable.
• Familiarity with marine fisheries context is beneficial.

Responsabilidades

• Analyse and map fishing vessel positional data using R and/or FME and GIS tools.
• Develop repeatable workflows for processing and analysing the data.
• Apply postgraduate-level technical training to a real-world marine evidence challenge.
• Present findings at internal and external meetings.
• Manage and interpret large datasets with clear documentation.
• Work independently and proactively to meet deadlines.
• Engage with Project Managers in bi-weekly project meetings.
