Postdoctoral Scientist

Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Scientist position in the laboratory of Dr Ramanujan Hegde at the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology (LMB). To work as part of a research group to investigate the process by which complex membrane proteins are inserted and assembled correctly at the endoplasmic reticulum.

Applicants should have a PhD, or be due to complete a PhD within six months, in a subject relevant to the envisioned project such as cell biology, particularly in the areas of protein translation, maturation, quality control, and/or stress responses. Essential skills for this project are a high level of proficiency in ability to work with proteins, especially membrane proteins. Experience with cell-based experimental systems, including mammalian cultured cells and with in vitro reconstitution methods, especially as they relate to membrane proteins is required. Other requisite experience is in core methods of cell biology and biochemistry including: protein analysis, biochemical assays of protein modification, protein purification, mass spectrometry, and molecular biology.

This is a three-year training and development position suitable for you if you have recently completed your doctoral studies, or you are looking to move into a new research discipline and/or need to further develop your research skills. Working with our world class scientists you will be working in an Institute renowned for its excellent scientific facilities and high-quality research.
