The University of Oxford, Department of Engineering Science, invites applications for a full-time Postdoctoral Research Assistant to join RADlab in central Oxford. The position is funded by UKRI and fixed-term to 31 May 2028, focusing on wearable robotics and experimental biomechanics.

You will design and test wearable soft robotic devices for upper-body assistance, work with biomechanical modelling researchers, and publish your findings.

Competenze

• PhD or near completion in Engineering, Biomechanics, Robotics or related field.
• Experience in experimental biomechanics, upper body focus preferred.
• Strong practical skills in designing, fabricating and testing robotic devices.
• Experience in soft/wearable robotics or exoskeletons, with relevant technologies.
• Experience with actuator characterisation, instrumentation and data analysis in Python or MATLAB.
• Track record of peer‑reviewed publications and ability to work independently and collaboratively to meet research milestones.

Mansioni

• Design and fabricate wearable soft robotic devices providing mechanical assistance for upper-body movements.
• Develop experimental protocols to characterize actuator force, joint assistance, ROM, and load transfer.
• Evaluate and optimise device performance, durability and comfort through mechanical testing and movement measurements.
• Collaborate with biomechanical modelling and robotics researchers to translate findings into improved designs.
