The role focuses on building next-generation platforms for continuous evolution, engineering orthogonal replication systems, and studying evolution of multi-gene phenotypes.

Qualifications

• PhD in synthetic biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, microbiology, or nucleic acids chemistry
• Track record delivering ambitious research projects to a high standard
• Strong publication record and conference presentations

Responsibilities

• Design, execute, troubleshoot experiments and develop novel methodologies
• Analyse complex datasets with computational tools
• Contribute to research direction and refine questions
• Publish papers, reports, and protocols
• Present research at conferences and meetings
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across GBI, EIT, and external partners
• Build and maintain research infrastructure and cutting-edge technologies
• Mentor PhD students and research assistants
• Translate research findings into translational opportunities aligned with EIT's mission
• Identify and pursue opportunities for intellectual property generation and protection
• Ensure research activities comply with EIT's policies, legal requirements, and best scientific practice
