Job summary

University of Bath's Department of Mechanical Engineering is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate (SB13960) for an EPSRC-funded project with Surrey, Rolls-Royce and Siemens Energy. The role studies fluid dynamics and heat transfer in rotating compressor cavities for hydrogen-ready gas-turbine tech.

You will contribute to experimental design, measurement, and calibration, with mentorship and a personal development allowance. Fixed-term 36 months, salary range £38,784–£46,049, 36.5 hours/week.

Qualifications

• Postdoctoral or equivalent research experience in a related field.
• PhD or equivalent route required or acceptable alternative described.
• Experience with designing and conducting experiments and data analysis.

Responsibilities

• Design and operate rotating-cavity experimental rig and calibrate instrumentation.
• Conduct experiments across engine-representative conditions and analyze results.
• Collaborate with partners and interpret data to support modelling.
• Coordinate with Surrey on computational simulations.
• Prepare research reports and disseminate findings.
