The University of Liverpool invites applications for a fixed-term researcher position focusing on theoretical photophysics, aligned with electronic applications of organic molecules. You will work on computing optical properties and non-radiative rates, integrating theory, computation, and experimental insights as needed.
You will join an interdisciplinary team led by Prof. Alessandro Troisi to develop data-centric and physics-based methods for materials with optoelectronic properties, with
Hours of work: Full-time
Tenure: Fixed term for 24 months
We are seeking highly motivated and exceptional researchers with expertise in theoretical photophysics to join a multidisciplinary project focused on the computation and experimental verification of photophysical rates in organic molecules for electronic applications. You must have experience in both the computation of optical properties of molecules and the computation of non-radiative rates of molecules or solids. Desirable attributes include experience with experimental characterization of photophysical rates and data science applications in the context of electronic properties of molecules.
Please clearly demonstrate how you meet these criteria in your application.
You encouraged to apply if you have a track record of impactful research outputs in relevant areas. You will have the opportunity to expand your skills into other areas (e.g., physical property measurement; digital methods) during your tenure in this role and therefore, you must be able to interact effectively with colleagues with complementary skills.
The successful applicant will work within an interdisciplinary team of researchers led by Prof. Alessandro Troisi and working on the digital development of materials with interesting optoelectronic properties combining physics-based, data-centric and experimental methods.
The programme would benefit from individuals who are willing to combine theoretical, computational and experimental research, although previous experience at this interface is not required. Familiarity with data analysis, including of large datasets is essential.
If you are still awaiting your PhD to be awarded you will be appointed at Grade 6, spine point 30. Upon written confirmation that you have been awarded your PhD, your salary will be increased to Grade 7, spine point 31.
We are committed to enhancing a workforce as diverse as our community and particularly encourage applicants who are of minoritised genders and ethnic backgrounds, living with a disability, and/or are members of the LGBTQIA+ community.
