About the role

Applications are invited for the position of Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Synthesis of Porphyrin Arrays & Molecular Compasses to work under the supervision of Professor Harry Anderson for a period of 18 months. The project involves organic synthesis, metalloporphyrin coordination chemistry, spectroscopy and physical organic chemistry.

About you

Applicants must hold a PhD in Chemistry (or be close to completion and have submitted a thesis before taking up the appointment). The research requires experience in multi-step organic synthesis, including the synthesis of extended π-systems, dyes or porphyrin derivatives. You will be expected to manage your own academic research and administrative activities. This involves small-scale project management, to co-ordinate multiple aspects of work to meet deadlines.

The post will be based in the Department of Chemistry, Chemistry Research Laboratory and is available from 1st October 2025 (or earlier).
