About the role

Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Inorganic Materials Chemistry to work under the supervision of Professor Dermot O'Hare for a period of up to 12 months. The project involves the scale-up of new hierarchical metal oxides and hydroxides and is funded by the UCSF (Oxford University Challenge Seed Fund).

About you

Applicants must hold a PhD Inorganic Materials Chemistry or a related area (or be close to completion), prior to taking up the appointment. The research requires experience in inorganic materials synthesis, heterogeneous catalysis and advanced analytical techniques including synchrotron radiation experiments. Applicants should also have experience in catalyst production systems at lab scale and pilot scale, automation of reactor systems and data recording systems.

You will be expected to manage your own academic research and administrative activities. This involves small scale project management, to co-ordinate multiple aspects of work to meet deadlines.

The post will be based in the Department of Chemistry, Chemistry Research Laboratory, 12 Mansfield Road, Oxford, OX1 3TA and is available from 1 September 2025.
