Job description

Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Vectorial Optical Measurement, Oxford

We are seeking two part-time researchers to join the Vectorial Optics and Photonics Group at the Department of Engineering Science in Oxford. The position is fixed-term from 1st July 2024 to 31st March 2025.

The successful candidates will work on designing and developing a new vectorial beam measurement system. Responsibilities include investigating liquid crystal-based devices, adaptive optics systems, proposing and designing experimental measurement and control programs, procuring components, and documenting and reporting findings.

Applicants should possess a PhD or DPhil (or be near completion in a relevant subject) with experience in vectorial beam manipulation, liquid crystal, and/or polarimetric measurement. There is an option to underfill at Grade 6 (£31,502 - £37,386 p.a.) if the candidate holds a relevant degree or Masters and is working towards a PhD/DPhil.

Only online applications received before midday on 5th April 2024 will be considered. Applications must include a cover letter/supporting statement describing research interests, a CV, and contact details for two referees.
