Job summary

The Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to develop and optimise seed priming protocols and conduct biochemical assays on UK native tree seeds and seedlings. Based at Wakehurst, you will work in the Millennium Seed Bank labs and glasshouses as part of a UK-Germany consortium funded project.

The role requires a PhD in plant science or equivalent and a strong track record in seed priming or plant biochemistry, with wet-lab experience and biomarker

Qualifications

  • PhD in plant science or equivalent.
  • Proven track record in seed priming or plant biochemistry.
  • Experience designing and conducting wet laboratory research and biomarker identification.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and optimise seed priming protocols.
  • Conduct biochemical assays on seedlings to identify drought-tolerance biomarkers.
  • Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team in the Millennium Seed Bank laboratories and Wakehurst glasshouses.
