Job summary

University College London (UCL) is seeking a Research Fellow to join the ARIA 3DTreePrint project in the Geography department. The role focuses on processing LiDAR point-cloud data, developing scalable workflows, and collaborating with partner organisations to quantify forest structure for resilience studies.

The candidate should hold a PhD in a related field or be close to submission, with strong Python/C++ programming skills and experience with point-cloud processing in vegetated environments.

Qualifications

• PhD awarded or near submission in a related field with substantial computational work.
• Extensive experience processing point-cloud data from terrestrial/mobile LiDAR.
• Advanced programming skills in Python and/or C++, ability to adapt open-source code.

Responsibilities

• Work on ARIA's 3DTreePrint project to process LiDAR data.
• Develop and test computational workflows for 3D tree measurements.
• Collaborate with Forest Research and partners; report findings.
