Job summary

The University of Oxford invites applications for a fixed-term Postdoctoral Researcher in Large Language Model Development. The role focuses on curating multilingual humanities corpora from Oxford's GLAM collections, and on continual pre-training and fine-tuning of an open-weight foundation model on the University’s HPC infrastructure.

You will publish model weights, code, corpus documentation and benchmarks as open-source resources; contribute to a follow-on funding bid; collaborate on

Qualifications

• PhD/DPhil or substantial ML experience in research or industry.
• Strong understanding of deep learning and NLP; ability to train, adapt and deploy LLMs.
• Excellent Python and software engineering skills; publication record.

Responsibilities

• Curate multilingual humanities corpora from Oxford's GLAM collections.
• Pre-train and fine-tune open-weight foundation models on University HPC infrastructure.
• Design and validate evaluation benchmarks for humanities tasks.
• Publish model weights, code, corpus documentation and benchmarks as open-source resources.
• Contribute to technical roadmap and follow-on funding bids; collaborate on publications and conferences.
• Deliver project workshop for GLAM, digital humanities and AI communities.
