Job summary

The University of Southampton invites applications for a Post-doctoral Research Fellow to join the Centre of Excellence for Intelligent & Resilient Ocean Engineering. The role focuses on developing a whole life geotechnical design framework for offshore anchoring systems.

Qualified candidates will hold a PhD in geotechnical engineering with strong numerical, computational and coding skills and an interest in offshore renewables and seabed sediments.

Qualifications

• PhD in geotechnical engineering or equivalent professional qualification.
• Strong numerical, computational and coding skills.
• Interest and knowledge of offshore renewable energy and seabed sediments.

Responsibilities

• Create a dataset from finite element analysis and interpret results.
• Develop a lumped element macro model based on the dataset.
• Develop a stand-alone calculation tool for interacting with the framework.
