University of Exeter is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate (0.5FTE) to join the Biosciences and Living Systems Institute. The role focuses on host-pathogen interactions using Galleria mellonella, within a major BBSRC-funded program. Fixed-term until 30 June 2027.

Salary pro rata from £34,610 to £38,784 per annum, Grade E. The successful candidate will coordinate across labs, perform infection biology experiments, and contribute to downstream omics analyses, with access to world-class

Qualifications

  • You will hold a PhD in molecular biology, genetics, developmental biology, infection biology, microbiology, cell biology or a closely related discipline and will have an excellent publication record appropriate to career stage.
  • Strong ability to present information on research progress and outcomes, orally, in writing and electronically.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate activities across multiple collaborating laboratories.
  • Generate fluorescent bacterial and fungal pathogen strains and perform infection biology experiments.
  • Deliver flow cytometry-based analyses of pathogen engulfment by insect immune cells.
  • Prepare high-quality biological samples and datasets for downstream analyses.
