Job summary

University of Birmingham invites applications for a Research Fellow (Postdoctoral) in the School of Biosciences. The role focuses on bioinformatic analyses and wet-lab sample preparation for sequencing within the Speed Breeding Technologies for UK Broadleaved Trees project, funded by CFP and Defra. Fixed-term until March 2028, based at Edgbaston campus.

Lead by Dr. Andrew Plackett and Dr. Graeme Kettles, you will collaborate across institutions, manage milestones, and contribute to funding

Qualifications

• PhD required in a relevant discipline with research experience.
• Ability to conduct independent research and contribute to collaborative projects.
• Experience disseminating findings via publications and talks.
• Strong collaboration and communication within multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Undertake experimental work under supervision to collect research data.
• Analyze, interpret and present complex scientific data.
• Develop research objectives and proposals for individual or collaborative projects.
• Contribute to funding proposals and project reporting.
• Disseminate findings through publications and seminars.
• Participate in collaborative meetings with project partners and Defra reviews.
