Job summary

University of Dundee invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research and Innovation Associate (Fixed Term 24 months) in Civil Engineering Materials, Design and Construction. This role supports the SWIFT project in offshore wind, collaborating with Dundee, Edinburgh, and industry partners.

The appointee will perform physical and numerical modelling, publish findings, manage research activities, and drive impact with industrial stakeholders, contributing to innovative solutions for offshore

Qualifications

Completed a PhD in Civil Engineering (e.g. materials, structures).
Experience with physical and numerical modelling for civil engineering materials design and performance.
A track record of scientific publication commensurate with experience.
Evidence of initiative in formulation, planning and implementation of research and impact activities.
Capable of managing own academic portfolio and associated activities to meet tight industry deadlines.

Responsibilities

Liaison with the industry supply chain to evolve solutions for offshore substructure materials design, manufacture and performance.
Coordinate construction, installation, monitoring and maintenance logistics of offshore wind structures.
Carry out physical and numerical testing to verify performance of industry developments.
Realise the impact of new/existing research at the University of Dundee.
Integrate innovation activities with work at the University of Edinburgh.
