Job summary

The University of Strathclyde is seeking an exceptional researcher in experimental materials and biomolecular chemistry to join the CoreShell Fibre Foundry programme. You will work with chemists, biochemists and engineers to pioneer protein self-assembly and biomineralisation for microstructure manufacturing.

You will develop stimuli-responsive self-assembly with bio-proteins, optimise conditions, and collaborate across synthesis, computation and device engineering.

Qualifications

  • PhD level (or near completion) in an appropriate discipline.
  • Depth of knowledge in molecular self-assembly and/or biomineralisation.
  • Experience with microfluidics and soft matter characterization techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Develop stimuli-responsive self-assembly and biomineralisation using peptides/proteins.
  • Collaborate with device engineers to design microfluidics environments.
  • Optimize conditions and provide feedback on protein design and production.
  • Establish workflows to track experimental developments and deliver milestones.
  • Work with the team to iterate on sequence design and fabrication against defined deliverables.
