Royal Mail in Kettering is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) for a 6-month fixed-term contract. The role involves delivering letters and parcels, sorting mail at the office, and engaging with customers on a rotating 35-hour weekly schedule including Sundays.

Training and a uniform are provided; a full UK manual driving licence is required. Shifts may include weekends and Sunday patterns, with overtime available.

Location: Kettering Delivery Office, NN16 8AA

Job type: Fixed Term contract (6 months)

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.

Working hours: 35:00 hours per week - working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday - 06:45 - 15:20/12:00 - 20:00*

You'll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You'll be required to work Sundays at Kettering Delivery Office and the Sunday shift pattern would be from 10:00/16:00*

What To Expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily
• Working in all weather conditions
• Delivering letters and high volumes of parcels
• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About You

We'll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You'll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
