Qualifications

• Must hold a teaching qualification which meets the requirements for recognition to teach in grant-aided schools in Northern Ireland.
• Honours degree in Biology or Chemistry related degree.
• Experience teaching science at Key Stage 3 to GCSE level.
• Be registered with the General Teaching Council for Northern Ireland (GTCNI) before taking up post.

Responsibilities

• Planning and preparing courses and lessons;
• Teaching according to pupils' educational needs including setting and marking work;
• Assessing, recording and reporting on pupil development and attainment;
• Promoting the progress and well-being of pupils;
• Providing guidance to pupils on education and future careers;
• Communicating with parents and collaborating with school staff;
• Participating in meetings and contributing to curriculum development;
• Contributing to selection and professional development of other teachers;
• Maintaining good order and discipline and safeguarding pupils.
