An opportunity has arisen at Harrow School for a Post Graduate Assistant Teacher (PGAT) of Art from September 2025.
PGAT appointments are fixed-term contracts, typically for one academic year, with the possibility of renewal for a second year. PGATs teach a reduced timetable, usually no more than 20 lessons of 40 minutes per week, and assist in departments as appropriate to their experience. The School offers training in teaching skills and transferable skills for future careers, whether in education, banking, consultancy, law, or other fields.
The Art department at Harrow is a centre of excellence. All boys study Art in their first year, with 50-60 continuing to GCSE (AQA Fine Art, Art and Design). About 30 boys take the A-level Fine Art (Edexcel), and around 20 opt for A-level Photography. The department has a strong record of success in public exams and university placements at prestigious institutions like UCL, Oxford, and Glasgow School of Art. Many students also pursue History of Art and submit work for American university applications.
Please note applications are considered as received, and the school reserves the right to appoint at any stage.
Harrow School values diversity and is committed to safeguarding children. All applicants must undergo child protection screening, including checks with previous employers and the DBS. It is an offence to apply if barred from regulated activity involving children.
