Job Description:

The University of Manchester seeks to appoint a three-year fixed-term Post-Doctoral Research Associate in Globalisation and Sustainable Global Value Chains and are looking for applications from candidates who specialise in globalization, global value chains and sustainability. The successful applicant will contribute to high quality research and research-informed teaching that complements our existing clusters of activity.

The Research Associate will be expected to undertake independent and collaborative research, working closely, in particular, with the incoming SEED Head of School, Professor Khalid Nadvi and other members of the cross-disciplinary Global Production Networks, Labour and Trade research group based in the Global Development Institute (GDI).The post holder will be tasked with preparing and writing peer-reviewed publications and research funding applications within the broad areas of sustainable global value chains and to undertake some teaching at both post-graduate and undergraduate levels within GDI’s programmes teaching on globalization, trade and development.

Interviews will be held in July 2025.

Applicants will be required to submit their CV, cover letter, an example of recent published output and a brief research proposal of no more than 1500 words outlining their proposed research plans for the period of the appointment.
