Job summary

University of Lancashire in Preston invites applications for a Post doctoral Research Assistant in Nanomedicine and RNA delivery. The role focuses on RNA interference for glioblastoma therapy using a novel lipid nanoparticle platform, funded by North West Cancer Research, within Kamalinder K Singh's group.

The University of Lancashire excels in the provision of healthcare programmes. School of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences has an opening for a Post doctoral Research Assistant in the area of Nanomedicine and RNA delivery.

This position is funded by North West Cancer Research.

The post holder will undertake research on the project funded by North West Cancer Research on ‘RNA Interference for Glioblastoma therapy using novel lipid nanoparticle platform’

The research will be carried out in the Nanomedicine and Innovative technologies research group of Professor Kamalinder K Singh. Prof Singh’s research group develops cutting-edge nanoscale targeted drug and gene delivery technologies to overcome various biological barriers for treatment of range of diseases including cancer, infections and biotechnological applications.

In this position you will investigate generation, characterization, and testing of RNA based nanomedicine products in relevant in vitro cell culture models in accordance with defined milestones, whilst contributing as a team member to a wider research programme. You will undertake collection, evaluation, and interpretation of the research data, in experimental design and performance, and in contributing to attaining project milestones. You will provide support to the advancement of the research area and publish high impact, peer reviewed papers and assist in research dissemination activities. Experience of research in Nanomedicine and RNA delivery is therefore essential.

About you:

You will have a PhD degree (or near completion) in Nanomedicine/Lipid nanoparticles and RNA delivery/Cancer therapeutics. You should have a strong background in targeted nanomedicine and lipid nanoparticles for gene delivery and research experience in characterization techniques using a range of analytical tools and biological and cell assay experiments. You would have substantial expertise both in lipid nanoparticles formulation development and cell culture studies.

Motivated, enthusiastic with attention to detail, you will have the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders and have the ability to work independently and as part of a team to ensure agreed work targets are achieved. This position is based in Preston.
