Job summary

Gosforth Academy is seeking a Sixth Form Tutor to mentor Post 16 students, monitor attendance and progress, and deliver tutorials with a strong focus on pastoral care. You will support students with UCAS and other destination applications and collaborate on disciplinary and intervention strategies.

The role requires empathy, effective communication, and a commitment to inclusion, working within a dedicated Sixth Form team to help students succeed.

  • Strong ICT skills and ability to use tech to support learning.

Responsibilities

  • Provide tutorial/mentoring for Post 16 students.
  • Monitor attendance and progress of Post 16 students.
  • Deliver tutorials and provide pastoral support.
  • Support UCAS or other destination applications.
  • Contribute to disciplinary and intervention strategies.
  • Support the Post 16 Management Team in their work.

Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Sixth Form Tutor Team. Duties will include having tutorial/mentoring responsibilities for Post 16 Students. They will monitor attendance and progress, deliver tutorials and pastoral care, support students with their UCAS or other destination applications and help them to succeed. They will be involved in the disciplinary and intervention strategies implemented by the team. The successful candidate will clearly demonstrate an interest in young people and feel empathy with their needs and concerns. They will communicate effectively and sensitively with students to support their learning, promoting inclusion and acceptance of all students in our Sixth Form. They will also support the work of the Post 16 Management Team.

  5. Excellent ICT skills and the proven ability to use them effectively to support learning
  6. Ability to respond positively and effectively to unexpected problems and situations
  7. A working knowledge of Post 16 issues, progression routes Post 18.
