Your role will be employed by Manchester City Council as part of this partnership.
This role will be located within Adult Social Care’s Provider Services i.e., the Disability Supported Accommodation Service, Day Services, Short Breaks and Shared Lives. These service’s provide person-centred support to over 400 people with a learning disability and/ or autism and/ or a physical disability. The service’s key objectives are to enable people, whose needs range from requiring a low to complex response, to live as independent lives as possible.About the Candidate
Do you have an enthusiasm for engagingindividuals with Learning Disabilities and/or Autism in planning their own futures?
We are looking for someone with extensive experience in working with individuals with Learning Disabilities and/or Autismand distressedbehaviours. The roleholder will work collaboratively to reduce restrictive practices and coach and train staff to understand the principles and application of Positive Behaviour Support.
In order toappy for this role, you will need to have a qualification in PBS at MSc level or equivalent, with experience of carrying out behavioural and skills assessments and interventions.

The role holder will:
Develop and embeda workforcepracticemodel that provides specialist training,knowledgeand education to ensure people are receiving the best possible support.
Coachand trainthe workforce to be responsive to people’s needs including the ability to understand, develop and deliver interventions to support people presenting distressedbehaviours. This includes the direct delivery of interventions whererequired.
Provide effective leadership to a team of practitioners with responsibility for planning and managing resourcestosupport the delivery of serviceobjectives.
Developand promote strategicand integratedcollaborationthrough closeworking relationships withkey partners to ensurepeoplecanaccess a broad range of provision thatmeet their needsand promotes their independence.
Createacentreof excellence across Adult Social Care’s learning disability and autism services, aligned with key partners such as, Health, the VCSE and the external care market.
Ensure theinclusion of the voice of the people we support byco-producing, co-designingandconsultingwith experts by experience.
Effectively managesafeguarding risks by working within a clear framework of accountability.
Monitor theservice deliveryto respond to changing demandsthrough the effectivequality assurance androbustperformance management.
Demonstrate personal commitment to continuous self-development and service improvement.
Ensure diversity is positively valued, resulting in equal access and treatment in employment, service delivery and communications.
Skills and qualifications:
A qualification in PBS at MSc level or equivalent.
Proven experience and knowledge of working with people with a learning disability and autism including theoretical underpinning and experiential knowledge.
Proven experience from direct practice, training and qualifications in learning disability and autism interventions such as, positive behavioural specialist, leadership, active support, total communication.
Willingness to consent to and apply for an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Check.
Willingness to travel to any location within the boundaries of the city of Manchester
