Job description

The Opportunity

Avantor is seeking an experienced Portfolio Manager to be accountable for the long-term strategy, development, ongoing management, and financial performance of the Filtration and Laboratory Consumables product portfolio. We are looking for a candidate with a strong Life Science background.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Portfolio Financial Performance: Monitor key performance metrics (KPIs) such as revenue growth, profitability, and market share to identify opportunities for mix-shift, product optimization, and improvement. Be responsible for portfolio financial performance (revenue & profitability). Implement initiatives to enhance portfolio revenue and profitability.
  2. Portfolio Strategy: Develop and communicate the portfolio vision, strategy, and roadmap for Supplier & Avantor Proprietary brands based on market research, customer feedback, and business goals. Align these with key workflows and applications in collaboration with strategic marketing.
  3. Supplier Management: Manage relationships with strategic/key suppliers. Develop and implement supplier stratification (VAS/VPC), go-to-market strategies, and initiatives aligned with the portfolio and workflow/application strategy. Collaborate with sourcing and marketing to ensure execution of supplier initiatives.
  4. Product Life-Cycle Management: Oversee the lifecycle of product portfolios and define strategies for rationalization, replacement, or conversion.
  5. Market & Competitive Analysis: Conduct market research and competitive analysis with strategic marketing to understand customer needs, market trends, and the competitive landscape. Identify opportunities for product and portfolio differentiation.
  6. Portfolio Development: Define product requirements, plan development roadmaps, and oversee product development and introduction processes for supplier and proprietary products.
  7. Product Launch Planning & Execution: Manage pre-launch activities, develop go-to-market strategies, messaging, pricing, and positioning. Support marketing with content, collateral, and sales tools. Coordinate product launches, including defining plans, schedules, training, and rollout.
  8. Stakeholder Communication: Communicate product updates, progress, and decisions to stakeholders, including sourcing, marketing, sales, operations, and suppliers. Gather feedback to inform product decisions.
  9. Subject Matter Expert: Act as a product SME, advocating for the product vision and building relationships with customers, partners, and industry influencers.
