Job description

We are seeking a motivated equity analyst to progress quickly into a junior portfolio manager role, with responsibility for managing several country‑specific equity portfolios in line with Pyrford's disciplined, long‑term investment process.

Responsibilities
  • Screening stocks for potential further research.
  • Analysing company annual reports.
  • Preparing for and attending company and sell‑side analyst meetings.
  • Formulating and presenting investment proposals for inclusion in portfolios.
  • Updating the team on current holdings in the investment portfolios.
  • Assisting in administrative tasks for the desk and the wider firm.
  • Travelling to Asia on company meeting/research trips.
  • Taking responsibility for the ESG (environmental, social and governance) considerations of investment decisions.
Qualifications
  • Prior experience working in financial markets and direct equity investing, ideally within asset management, investment banking or accounting.
  • Comfortable with Excel and financial modelling.
  • Understanding of accounting and basic valuation techniques.
  • Genuine interest in Asian equities and long‑term investing.
  • Understanding of what makes a successful investment.
  • Inquisitive nature with attention to detail.
  • Willingness to take initiative and be a self‑starter.
  • Willingness to travel for the purposes of investment research.
  • CFA or currently working towards Level 3.
