The world is changing fast — expectations from customers, communities, regulators and our stakeholders are rising. Technology is moving quicker than ever. We need to catch up and then stay ahead if we want to be the best GDN in the UK. We need to make sure we’re set up for success. We’re already making great progress with a new CEO and Executive Team, a new COO function and we’ve just moved from five to nine regions in our Southern network, creating closer communities for our people. We’ve opened a Business Services Centre, giving everyone easier access to the services they need, and we’ve brought in 550 new vans, with hundreds more on the way.

But this is just the beginning. We’re focusing on three big goals:

  • Supporting our frontline first
  • Cutting waste, not corners
  • Working smarter, together

We’ve already started work on a five-year programme that will help us achieve our goals, and our journey will continue over the next 3-4 years.

We’re now offering fantastic opportunities for colleagues to help us on this exciting journey.

The PMO Manager plays a key role in enabling effective portfolio governance, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of RAID and dependency data, and supporting initiative leads through structured reporting, onboarding, and best practice administration. This role supports delivery across a broad portfolio of transformation initiatives.

This role will be responsible for establishing, evolving, and governing project and programme management standards across the operational business transformation portfolio, ensuring the successful delivery of initiatives aligned with our strategic goals. • Act as a strategic advisor to senior leadership on programme and portfolio delivery.

Governance & Standards

  • Establish and enforce enterprise-wide project management frameworks, methodologies (, PRINCE2, MSP, Agile), tools, and best practices.
  • Maintain effective governance structures and reporting to monitor progress, risks, and benefits realization across the portfolio.
  • Oversee the prioritisation, planning, and execution of business-critical projects and programmes.
  • Ensure resource allocation, budget adherence, and delivery of key outcomes across the portfolio.
  • Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of project and programme managers.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and accountability.
  • Monitor enterprise project risks, issues, and interdependencies, ensuring timely mitigation and escalation as required.
  • Ensure transparency and traceability in decision-making and change control.

Performance & Reporting

  • Deliver high-quality dashboards and executive-level reporting to enable informed decision-making.
  • Track delivery KPIs and drive initiatives to improve performance, value delivery, and stakeholder satisfaction

What you will need

  • Exceptional leadership, stakeholder engagement, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrable experience in portfolio management, risk management, and strategic planning.
  • Strong analytical mindset with a track record of delivering performance metrics and insights.
  • Experience with PMO and collaboration tools (, MS Project, Power BI, Jira, Confluence, Smartsheet).
  • Degree in Business, Management, or a related field; PMP, PgMP, or similar certifications are a plus
