Job summary

WSP in the UK & Ireland seeks a Portfolio Health & Safety Lead to shape strategy and drive improvements in health and safety outcomes across the Property & Buildings Portfolio. You will partner with the P&B Executive Managing Director and Directors to ensure risks and performance inform business decisions.

You will lead the H&S support model, direct the Senior H&S Business Partner and allied teams, and focus on strategy, governance and assurance rather than routine delivery.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in a senior H&S leadership or business-partnering role within a complex, project-led organisation.
• Experience advising Executive Directors, Managing Directors and Operational Directors.
• Strong knowledge of UK health and safety regulatory framework, incl. CDM and Building Safety Act.
• A Level 6 H&S qualification such as NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent.
• Chartered IOSH membership or progress towards Chartered status.
• Experience developing H&S strategies, improvement plans and risk-based assurance programmes.
• Ability to analyse complex information and present clear recommendations to senior leaders.

Responsibilities

• Develop and oversee the P&B H&S strategy and annual improvement plan.
• Advise executives on H&S risk, performance, opportunities and leadership.
• Provide consolidated view of portfolio H&S performance and risks.
• Translate portfolio priorities into discipline-level objectives and actions.
• Lead H&S contribution to portfolio and discipline leadership meetings.
• Oversee portfolio H&S reporting using incident and performance data.
• Set direction for the P&B H&S team and allocate resources by risk.
• Oversee risk-based assurance across project safety and other priorities.
• Provide senior oversight of significant incidents, investigations and learning.
• Promote visible H&S leadership and share best practices across P&B.
• Represent P&B in UK&I HSEQ and governance forums.
• Provide H&S input to strategic projects, bids and major change.
