Job Title: Portfolio Finance & Benefits Analyst
Contract Type: Permanent
Salary: £38,071 per annum (£42,079 per annum is achieved after 12 months successful performance in the role)
Working Hours: 35 hours per week
Working Pattern: Monday to Friday
Location: Hybrid, Liverpool

The difference you will make as aPortfolio Finance & Benefits Analyst

As a Portfolio Finance & Benefits Analyst you will be responsible for providing financial analysis and tracking benefits realisation across the Business Transformation change portfolio. This dual focus role will record, monitor and support the realisation of benefits (value) derived from our change investments, whilst maintaining robust financial controls.

As part of a vibrant and high achieving Portfolio Management Office team (PMO), the post holder will work closely with stakeholders across the change portfolio, including Finance Business Partners, Programme & Project Managers to ensure accurate cost controls and that benefits are at the heart of the change and to instil a benefits-led approach into change delivery.

Enthusiastic, self-motivated and collaborative, the post holder will combine financial acumen with benefits management, driving financial accountability and maximising portfolio value.

  • Support the development and execution of a comprehensive benefits management framework
  • Support portfolio stakeholders with embedding the benefits management approach, ensuring this is well documented
  • Work closely with the Programmes and Business Design teams to identify, quantify, profile, monitor, track and report measurable benefits and cost savings associated with the transformations they are delivering

Role Profile

  • Facilitate benefits workshops and support the development of benefits profiles for projects and programmes
  • Maintain benefits in the project and portfolio management (PPM) system to ensure that actual benefits are captured and recorded and that forecast positions reflect the latest business case position
  • Support the business design team with investment appraisals, ensuring benefits forecasts are realistic and consistent with established framework
  • Deliver timely and accurate analysis and reporting of finances and benefits to senior leadership team, creating dashboards to track performance, trends and recommending opportunities for cost savings or enhanced value delivery
  • Conduct post-implementation project reviews to assess benefits realisation against the business case
  • Monitor portfolio financial performance, including actuals, forecasts and provide detailed financial reports to relevant stakeholders, working closely with Finance Business Partners
  • Act as a trusted advisor to portfolio teams, providing guidance on financial management and benefits related matters.
  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, data analysis and data quality issues in relation to the provision of finance and benefits services.
  • Work independently and in collaboration with the PMO team to contribute to overall team performance.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

The post holder should possess a strong understanding of financial management and benefits management principles, processes and application to a business transformation context.

  • Advanced analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present complex information to non-technical audiences
  • Proficient in financial and reporting tools
  • Proven experience in financial analysis and benefits management
  • Experience working in a collaborative environment with cross-functional teams managing multiple priorities
  • Evidence of continual professional development, keeping up to date with best practice in benefits and finance management
  • Experience using and optimising a project & portfolio management tool
  • Personal management skills and able to work as a team
  • Ability to prioritise workload where resource / time is limited
