About our client

We're working with one of the UK's leading SME investors which is looking to add a Portfolio Director to its London team. You'll be intricately involved with some of the UK's most exciting growth businesses and entrepreneurs. You will support them during their time in the portfolio, help them achieve their goals, assist in bolt-on acquisitions, and prepare and facilitate an exit. They are looking for someone passionate about working with portfolio companies and making a real difference, ideally with a growth restructuring background. A key focus will be on more complex, challenging, turnaround or distressed investments.

What the job involves

1. Provide experience and expertise in turnaround or distressed situations, taking board seats across a number of relevant situations to maximise portfolio company potential.
2. Liaise on a regular basis with portfolio company management teams/finance directors to ensure plans are on target.
3. Work closely with CEOs and business owners as a trusted strategic advisor, responsible for further investments, talent resourcing, negotiating with key stakeholders, and exit planning.
4. Liaise with external auditors through the valuation process.

Who we are looking for

1. An experienced UK investment and/or portfolio professional who has sat on numerous UK company boards.
2. Proven ability to develop strong working relationships with management teams and affect real change and growth in portfolio companies.
3. A track record of managing further investments, and planning and executing exits.
4. Strong financial modelling, accounting and business analysis skills - rigorous, accurate and detail orientated.
