The bit about the role
The CWIEME Portfolio Director, will be responsible for the development and growth of this portfolio, leading the brand through ground breaking change in the events industry as we digitize the core event. The PD will drive high growth for the portfolio, be a figurehead of the industry with a focus on creating a culture of curiosity, braveness and championing doing things differently.
As part of your job, you’ll be:
- Developing and executing an ambitious, product-first strategic and commercial plan that continually evolves the CWIEME brand portfolio.
- Owning P&L accountability for the full portfolio: sales, marketing, digital community/platform, content programming and logistics delivery.
- Scouting and evaluating new business opportunities—launches, acquisitions or strategic alliances—that accelerate portfolio expansion and reinforce market leadership.
- Identifying and assessing value-chain initiatives beyond core offerings—to diversify revenue through partnerships, joint ventures or adjacent services.
- Continuously evaluating and evolving the Connect@CWIEME platform with Personatech—optimising team structure, training, community engagement and go-to-market sales to enhance digital experience and commercial impact.
- Digitising the core event experience by integrating hybrid engagement features, leveraging data analytics for personalised insights, and maintaining year-round digital touchpoints to drive continuous customer engagement and ROI.
- Driving always-on research—surveys, interviews, analytics and social listening—to gather year-round feedback and translate insights into actionable improvements across events, content and digital platforms.
- Building and inspiring a winning team: providing clear vision, setting ambitious objectives and coaching both direct and matrixed reports.
- Constantly reviewing team resources and capabilities to ensure we have the right capacity and skills to deliver our growth objectives.
- Establishing yourself as a recognised industry figure, representing CWIEME at key forums, media engagements and partner events.
- Supporting visitors, exhibitors and partners before, during and after events through tailored outreach, content and networking initiatives—fuelling year-round engagement.
- Partnering with the Shanghai Event Director to set growth vision and KPIs; supporting and coaching the existing China product & commercial team to drive double-digit growth and cement CWIEME Shanghai as the region’s premier event.

- Demonstrable experience of leading a P&L, delivering commercially successful strategies and budgets.
- Can manage geographically remote teams.
- Have a data mindset, using it in their approach to decision making.
- Experience of leading in a high-growth organisation and leveraging innovation for growth.
- Proven ability of leading a product and instilling an effective product first culture; driving consistency and operational excellence.
- Inspiring leader that has the gravitas to effectively manage senior level relationships (internal and external).
- Experience of reporting, budgeting/forecasting and associated processes and policies.
- Maintains knowledge of current and future industry trends that could impact our business objectives.
- Experience of continually innovating and constantly looking for the next idea to develop existing products and to launch.
