Background

Schroders Wealth Transformation team is a newly established team with a remit across the transformation lifecycle from strategy to execution. We collaborate with our business and technology partners across the Schroders Group to enable our Cazenove and Schroders International Wealth business to thrive in an increasingly competitive, regulated and margin pressured global landscape by shaping, mobilising and delivering both transformational and essential change to allow the business to grow profitably while providing high levels of investment performance and client experience.

Role Overview

As the Portfolio Delivery Director, you will play a pivotal role in driving the strategic initiatives of the Wealth business at Schroders.

Reporting directly to the Head of Wealth Transformation, you will lead the execution and delivery of programmes and projects that align with the organisation's vision and objectives. This position requires a blend of strategic thinking, operational expertise, and leadership skills to ensure that organisational, technology and data related initiatives are completed on time, within scope, and achieve the desired outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of the initiatives within the Wealth transformation portfolio.
• Develop relationships across Wealth teams to enable the identification, prioritisation and sequencing of the right business outcomes and transformation priorities.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define scope, objectives, and deliverables, ensuring alignment with overall business strategy.
• Be accountable for the mobilisation and delivery of transformation programmes/projects, leading to the achievement, at pace, of strategic objectives.
• Ensure programmes/projects are in a stable position where they are ‘set up for success’ before successfully transitioning and handing-over to a Programme/Project Manager for onward delivery
• Undertake the Programme Director/Manager role on delivery programmes when required.
• Drive change at pace through excellent cross-functional working.
• Navigate complex organisational challenges.
• Drive clarity and simplicity from positions of ambiguity by framing the right business questions and being creative in bringing the right insights and people together to help solve the toughest business problems.
• Develop and manage timelines, budgets, and resource allocation to optimise value creation.
• Monitor and report on the Wealth Transformation portfolio’s progress, identifying risks and implementing mitigation strategies to address challenges.
• Engage with senior stakeholders to communicate initiative status, ensuring continued buy-in for initiatives and ongoing accountability for benefit realisation.
• Facilitate workshops and meetings to gather insights, drive consensus, and foster collaboration across partner teams in Wealth, Group Finance, People and Culture, Global Technology and Group Operations.
• Implement best practices in change management to support the organisation through periods of transition.
• Lead in the appointment of change resources to ensure the key roles needed for successful delivery are in place.
• Develop onboarding packs for change resources that pro-actively contribute to integrating new change resources by providing effective education of Schroders change management practises and methodologies and the Wealth Transformation objectives and context.
  
  

The Knowledge, Experience And Qualifications You Need

• Educated to at least undergraduate degree level
• A strong track record in strategic transformation, change leadership, and programme management.
• Proven experience (typically 8+ years) in project management and delivery within asset or Wealth management or financial services.
• Strong understanding of investment products, market dynamics, and regulatory considerations in asset management.
• Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
• Achieves results through empowerment of people under line and matrix management.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while delivering quality results.
• Proficient in project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall) and use of project management tools.
• Strategic thinking with a strong analytical mindset, capable of translating complex data into actionable insights.
• Be an energiser of team morale, sees opportunity and satisfaction in overcoming challenge and uses these experiences to build the teams reputation.
