Job Introduction

As a Portering Supervisor at Sodexo in Royal Stoke Hospital, you’ll be responsible for managing and ensuring the efficient operation of Portering services, including waste management, postal services, and the receipt and distribution of materials across the entire RSUH site. This role involves making key strategic decisions related to Portering and collaborating closely with other support and Trust departments to deliver a professional and seamless service.

What you’ll do:

  • Monitor all Portering KPIs daily and ensure timely reporting as per Project Agreement.
  • Drive continuous improvements in all areas of service delivery.
  • Manage staffing levels, skill mix, and rotas, including cover for sickness and leave.
  • Recruit, train, develop, and motivate staff to maintain a high-quality service.
  • Analyse and address staff performance issues promptly.
  • Identify service weaknesses and develop strategies for improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with training, documentation, and maintain patient privacy and dignity.
  • Handle complaints, HR matters, and maintain effective communication with all staff.

What you bring:

  • Previous supervisor experience (within a healthcare setting desirable)
  • Awareness of appropriate legislation including (but not limited to) employment, hygiene, health and safety
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to relate at all levels
  • The ability to implement and drive changes to working practices as required (Desirable)
  • Experience in Portering service at a hospital site
