Porter
Location: Wigan, WN1
Salary: £12.71 per hour
Hours: 20 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Working Pattern: Monday - Friday 7am - 11am
Dalkia UK is looking for a reliable and hardworking Porter to join our team at a site in Wigan.
Working as part of the onsite team, you will be responsible for the care, presentation and general upkeep of the buildings and grounds. This will include delivering parcels to different areas of the site, carrying out minor repairs and responding to any cleaning tasks as required.
This role would suit someone who takes pride in maintaining high standards, can organise their workload effectively and is comfortable working as part of a busy team.
Job Purpose
- Minor maintenance and repairs to the building fabric internal and external as required to; include painting.
- The unblocking drains if necessary.
- Checking the security of windows and doors
- The safe custody of keys of the premises including key-holder responsibilities
- Reporting to Facilities Manager any instances of unauthorised use or unauthorised entry to or damage to the premises
- Responsible for ensuring that all bin areas and bins internally and externally are emptied, washed and cleaned.
- Ensuring that all toilet areas are cleared, litter-free and adequate supplies of consumables are available and topped up
- Preparing the premise for activities together with the clearing up and cleaning thereafter, and the preparation of the premises for its normal use.
- Responsible for ensuring that adequate supplies of cleaning materials and other requisites are requisitioned in good time
- Responsible for ensuring that all defects in cleaning/maintenance equipment are reported promptly to the help desk.
- Receipt of materials and other goods for both the client and Dalkia Ltd that have been delivered to the premises and their distribution to and from appropriate points of storage.
- The porterage of parcels across site and that it is delivered to the recipient.
- Actively record all reactive jobs.
- Any other duties appropriate to the grade which may be assigned from time to time
Person Specification
Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge and Skills
The knowledge, skills, qualifications and experience relevant to the position are:
Essential
- Full Driving Licence.
- Experience in supervising people.
- Experience in building/security / ground maintenance work desirable.
- Ability to work as an individual by working off own initiative, well‑organised and capable of prioritising own work.
- Remain professional at all times.
Desirable
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Understand safe working practices and health and safety legislation.
- Practical with ability to carry out minor repair work.
